  Memphis does try, but it sometimes seems like a third world country here... there's a tremendous amount of people living on government welfare and even though most people are pretty friendly the crime rate is high. There are many historical things to see here, however, in the past they rarely seemed to retain and maintain some of the culture and architecture that was important to Memphis' history. They're getting better at that.
