  Pretty disappointed. The place is nice and the servers are kind, but the menu needs work. I ordered the Big Daddy burger and was surprised to get a burger the size White Castle burger with no toppings. Because of the name, I thought I was getting a big burger, instead I got a slider. I literally ate this burger with one hand, since it’s width was less than my pinky to my thumb and finished it in three bites. Not worth $15. I would of said something, but I didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes. TL;DR • Nice place • Nice staff • 45 minute wait for food, for 4 people on a slow night • Small burgers • Over price = just go for drinks.

  Food is delicious and plentiful. Bar tender should dress a bit more professionally but she was a nice person. The atmosphere is great. I will definitely come back.

  This was our first trip to Maxwells. We stopped in during the week for a casual dinner. Parking was tricky as we had to find a spot on the street and did not see a private lot. Atmosphere is casual with a separated area with a large bar and TV's. We were seated promptly and ordered within 10 minutes. Both of us had fish & chips. For the price I was surprised at how small the portions were. Also that Haddock was not available, just Cod. It was served in a basket with shoestring fries and a very small side of Cole slaw. The Cod was 4 small pieces about 5" x 4" and although nice and crispy, it was extra greasy. Glad we got to try it, but probably won't be back because the restaurant competition is fierce here on Long Island. There are restaurants on almost every block of Main St. So if you aren't prepared to provide such excellence that it stands out from all the rest I believe customers will go elsewhere.

  We were greeted immediately and had a nice casual lunch. Service was excellent and attentive and we took advantage of wine down wednesdays. Food is always good and there is a lot of variety on the menu. We'll be back soon.

  Why go out...for the service, the atmosphere and to take a night off from cooking to be with family and friends. Any of these 4 are why you pay more for the value you get. What happens when you don’t get service (water glasses should be refreshed throughout the meal, or getting 4 dishes sporadically, with the last, a hamburger, some 10 minutes after the first serving. Just expect better from a Lessing’s property. The food was well prepared and makes you want to come back again, the service, not sure.
