  Within 5 minutes of entering I felt like this place was setup to put the customer first. Really friendly welcome and the decor and atmosphere is cool and relaxing. I felt like when I was asked what I wanted the barber actually cared! Not just reaching for the clippers nodding along going “yeah, yeah”. Everyone in the shop was chiming into a lively conversation and clearly showed their expertise by offering insights and advice into individual styles. I’ll be a regular here now and look forwards to watching as they grow in popularity and prestige.

  The atmosphere here is phenomenal and much better than any other shop I've gone to. The space is bright and warm, and all of the barbers are friendly which really makes this place feel like a home away from home. I went in a few times for haircuts and beard trims with Greg. He is great - I've never left feeling like it could have gone better. He's very thoughtful, and you can tell he really cares about making sure you leave the shop feeling your best. I wouldn't trust my hair with someone else - so much so that I just moved to SF and I'm contemplating on flying back to NYC once a month for a cut from Greg.

  The best barbershop in NY hands down. You want someone who really knows what they’re doing? This is the place. Everyone here is talented and the work is impeccable. The shop vibes are right and it’s only getting better. If you go anywhere else for a haircut or shave, you’re making a mistake!

  You know how hard it is to get the “right” haircutter? One that listens and then gives you more than you hoped for? Well I’ve been lucky my son told me about Greg. We live out of state but we visit NYC about 4-6 times a year and when ever I am back, I stop in for a Cut from Greg. I get more compliments from his cuts than I ever had before. The new shop is opposite Russ & Daughters Cafe and it has a great, comfortable vibe. Do yourself a favor and get a great cut from Greg at MOI. You can thank me later!

  My experience at Matter of Instinct barbershop was great. This shop felt familiar as a former customer of Freeman's Sporting club but with a fresh more welcoming vibe. I got a haircut and beard trim from Greg and couldn't be happier with the result as well as the customer service. This new shop is the best in town.
