::Happy Sunday Funday! Stop by this Findlay Market mainstay to take part in the wine tasting. Market Wines offers a wine tasting on Saturday and Sunday comprised of four tastings around a theme. This place is always packed, but they somehow stay on top of where people are on their tastings. As I said, Market Wines has been packed whenever I have been there, which is a given, because it is great. The downside is there is limited space to congregate and we always fear we will bump into the shelving. The other downside is that people bring their dogs. Come on, people, there is not enough space for your fur babies.

::This place is wonderful! Cozy place with wine tasting in the weekends. Live music during the wine tasting. Great ambiance, cozy between all the wine shelves. We don't live downtown anymore but love to go back only for a visit to Market Wines and Findlay Market.

::Listen up, people of Google: There is not a better wine shop in all of Cincinnati. Yup, that's right. I said it, and I stand by it too. Michael Maxwell is everything you want in a wine shop owner: * In his shop, he's omnipresent; I have never stopped in to find someone else tending the bar in his stead. * He knows his wine because he drinks his wine & he suggests wine that he likes, not the wine that makes him the most money. I love wine & I know it pretty well. Whenever I ask for recommendations form people that work in wine shops, their suggestions uniformly suck. But not at Market Wines - I've never gotten a bad recommendation from Michael or any of his folks. I trust him so much that I let him pick out the celebratory champagne I bought for the birth of my daughter. That's trust. * He knows beer too, and gets in beers I have a problem finding elsewhere. His shop isn't big, but he knows how to use the space. His is the only shop I've found to reliably carry beers from the Dark Horse Brewery from Michigan's U.P., one of my favorite breweries. He even gets in their specialty beers .... But best of all, Michael loves Findlay and the neighborhood. I used to work at the market when I was a teenager & I shopped there with my Grampa when I was a tyke; I have a deep and abiding love of the market. So does Mr. Maxwell, and that makes him tops in my book. Go here now, have a drink & be happy.
