::How this facility has five stars, I’ll never know! Even though it is VERY old and most of the rooms are dark because of paneling on the walls, or other dark wall treatments, if it was clean and provided proper care, that wouldn’t matter. However, my mother was laying on stained sheets that had holes in them - I made them change the sheets. The physical therapy room is so small, there were days my mom couldn’t even get in - despite a scheduled appointment. The staff was deaf to the calls bells, and at one point, my mom called me hysterical because she had been pressing the call button for two and a half hours, and no one came. I had to call the facility and yell a the staff to help her! Then, they tried to convince my mom that she was lying, and it turns out the call button was broken! After three days and useless promises that they would do better, I finally transferred her to ORZAC in Valley Stream, and even that took three full days because the social worker, Ava, said she did not have control over the nurses, whose responsibility it was to fill out the paperwork for the transfer. By the third day of waiting, I had to threaten to call the State Health Department before they finally took care of business. Ava also doesn’t check her email or answer phone calls very often. I called five times before I finally received a return call. Mom is now safe, comfortable and receiving proper care at ORZAC.

::I recommended to Lynbrook and it was the best choice I ever made. Not living too far from the location my loving grandmother who stayed there for about a month loved the staff in her sicken state. They truly care about all of the patients that come though the door of Lynbrook. I'll recommend Lynbrook to anyone. You can tell that they are very professional in everything they do.

::Nightmare on Atlantic Ave I live and work nearby and so I helped choose this facility after my mom’s a stay in the hospital for a broken wrist and head trauma. She had been at a different rehab facility a week before but I thought it would be best to move her closer to my home. Within 2 nights they had subjected my mother to such horrors that she had to be hospitalized after the second day there. She was kept bound by the aid station throughout the night. I have the texts from the administrator where not only doesn’t he deny this but he was offended when I indicated that I hope his loved ones get treated the same way he treated my mom. Furthermore even after he witnessed my mother’s condition he and the staff made it difficult for us to leave, to the point where we had to call an ambulance, since the staff refused to assist us in a transfer. Run, don’t walk away from Lynbrook restorative therapy and nursing. It’s a nightmare run by a cold, calculating, money hungry group of people in whose interest it is , in my opinion, is to keep people from getting well rather than to rehab them. They offer little to get anyone out of bed. They have a very small room for rehab compared to what any other center has. Their activities to help people get well are close to nil. Ask for a activities calendar – there is none, they are too lazy even to make one up that they won’t adhere to anyway. As to the star 5 rating they keep mentioning the 5 star rating try the “US News and World Report” rating which shows Lynbrook Restorative facility with a terrible 1.5 % rating. ! being the worst you can get as they don't give zeros. US NEWS & WORLD REPORT is unbiased not like Yelp or even this one that can be manipulated by social media. I am sure the administrator will answer this with a glib response where he apologizes for the poor experience we had. Don’t buy into it. The staff knows by now that the care is poor to the point of criminal, that patience are crying at night from lack of care, and that family can be easily fooled by smooth talk when they are looking around during their initial visit. I am sure he wont mention the low score mentioned above by the investigative news magazine.Read on and see if you can read between the lines at what he does and doesn't address. Go elsewhere, there area few good places out there - this is not one of them.

::My mother was at Lynbrook for 3 months, after we transferred her out of a different facility. I found everyone on the staff helpful, genuinely nice and caring. Everyone was easily accessible at all times, including the administrators. Calls are always returned promptly. My mother remarked several times that they come AS SOON as she rings the bell (and in fact that was the case every time I was there and she had to ring for help). The staff worked hard to meet her needs--even telling me that they were working on getting her to go to activities. I told them it was a lost cause. I was wrong. They got her to go and she loved them all. They even threw her an amazing birthday party. The PT was wonderful. After breaking her femur, they got my (100 year old) mother up and walking. I would walk into the therapy room to check on her progress and it was clear that her therapists were completely on top of the situation. After being home for a few months my mother had to return to rehab (for a different reason). I was happy to know there was a bed available at Lynbrook. So this is our second time around. I see that a different review mentions restraints. I find that perplexing. I visit my mother every day. Nothing like this ever happened to her and I never saw any patient treated this way (I would have noticed--I look around every time I visit). I encourage anyone considering facilities to go and look for themselves. You will find a clean and welcoming facility with a caring staff and administration.
