first time here. we sat outside. love the atmosphere and overall feel of the place. no bad oder. that's it for the good news. while there is an accessible entrance from the alley, it's hard to call it wheelchair/scooter friendly, given the bumpy doorways, which require a running start and a push from hubby. as another reviewer pointed out, the alley is steep for walkers/canes. to users of such, i say bring your friends: one to drop you off at the back entrance, another to go around and ask them to open the door & gate if locked, and another to help you through the doorways. the food was just okay. I liked the tamale and the gravy on it, but something was missing--maybe cilantro would have helped? the service was so bad that i saved it for last because i don't know where to start. i ordered a 3-item combo that included a chile relleno. then hubby ordered a chile relleno combo. then the waitress said they didn't have chile relleno. i wonder when she planned to tell me that. hubby ordered a draft beer because the Margarita was not so good. we looked over the menu a bit more and still no beer when she came back to take our new orders. after waiting for what felt like forever, we flagged down the waitress, who finally said they don't have that beer on tap so he asked for another kind, which never came. flagged down a waiter, who finally brought a bottle just before we finished dinner. then the check never came. hubby finally went inside and was directed by another customer as to where to pay. i have to think this was an off day for the service considering how long they have been open. trying to decide whether to give it another try, only because of the great look/feel of the patio. it was really quite relaxing, hence the first of two stars. the second star is for the fact that while difficult to access, it was doable in this Old Sacramento location, which is a rare find. ps, we were comped the iced tea and margarita for the wait, without having to ask, so they are aware and are trying.

Some of the best Mexican food in town, or anywhere around here. Delicious tasting original recipes with a familiar tone. The ambiance is incredible, located in the heart of Old Sacramento, you can enjoy outdoor dining below street level as you hear the horses gallop by on the street above. The water fountain in the patio sets a nice serene tone and compliments the whole ambiance. Indoors there are 2 dining rooms, the center section being the busier big group/family-oriented area, there is a TV in this section which will usually be showing the main sporting event of the moment, this section also leads to the kitchen which adds a bit of noise and is more suited towards big groups. The side room is a bit more private and includes booths as well as separate tables, there is less noise in this section and it is a generally more lowkey area of the restaurant. There is also a bar in the restaurant which serves Modelo on tap and some delicious cocktails. This is overall one of my favorite spots to eat and grab a drink at, I recommend it to everyone who visits Sacramento.

Good food and professional customer service provided by a busgirl. She was phenomenal, the best ever. Waitress lacked customer service skills (frozen tundra cold). Other than that all was great.

I’m not sure how this place has stayed open. We’ve been here 30 minutes and still waiting for our food. 15 minutes after ordering 2 sides of guacamole and tortillas. They informed us they don’t do sides of guacamole. What? They have guacamole available on everything but won’t give you a side order. The vigil for our food finally arriving continues........I guess I didn’t realize how long it took to make a cheese quesadilla and 2 guacamole tostadas. PS- food was bad too. Taco Bell would have been better! I can’t emphasize this enough- DON’T EAT HERE!!!! Bad food & bad service!
