  Program is ok if you need to change your heating system if you don't mind having to pay 3 times what it really costs. They essentially will do the work initially for free. Then you make monthly payments that are affordable, however, you'll be paying them for over ten years. Save up the money yourself if you can

  An okay program. You're very limited with what upgrades you can do. Plus the companies they use are questionable. To top things off it takes forever to finally get the job started/done. I'd say you're looking at more than half of a year in waiting. Most people don't have the patience & don't want to deal with all the paperwork involved. First you have to do an online assessment on your energy use, then you get an online login and you have to upload your oil delivery info and your electricity use. So if you're not computer literate you're out of luck. Once that's done they then call you and assign a contractor to do an energy audit. A guy goes to your house does a blower test, checks the attic for insulation, and takes pics of your home. Then he'll combine all the info and do a packet that they usually email you telling you what your home needs. Then you decided what you want done. Then you get the quote for the work, and then you sign tons of documents, then they need to get permits from the town and then finally they start the work. All in all its a big headache. Of course the speed depends on the contractor you end up with and how quickly they move but If you have the money then just do the improvements on your own because they'll charge you like a normal company would - by over-charging - otherwise use the town program. Then about a month after they do the work you start paying them back. They calculate your monthly bill by how much you'll save annually on your bills. Payments aren't bad but if you don't want an extra bill then this program wont work for you. Also you'll be paying it back for a few years depending on how much of the 13,000 the program gives you use. (plus the town mentioned here they give 15,000 but the guy we worked with said the town gives 13k so whatever.
