I am not a well person. I have been afflicted by Crohn’s Disease for the last twenty years. In that time I have had multiple major surgeries including two bowel ressections, the latest in November 2015. I was cleared to resume physical activities in July of 2016, but was afraid of hurting myself and ashamed of how our of shape I had become. In March of this year my blood work results were concerning (Non alcoholic fatty liver disease) and my blood pressure was high even with the medication I was taking. Then I saw an ad on Facebook for a 6 week challenge for Locomotive CrossFit. I was skeptical at first because I inferred that the gym would be full of meat heads and jacked up people that would snicker at the out of shape guy and mock me when I wasn’t there. Despite my reservations I took a call from the owner, Siobhan, and heard her out. She encouraged me to meet her for the kick off meeting and see what happens. The first day was intimidating. I specifically remember a guy lifting more weight then I could imagine, shirtless, looking like a WWE wrestler. But also on that day I met Danielle, the woman that would be coaching us in the upcoming 6 weeks. Those 6 weeks were tough. I developed an infection, late nights at works and the workouts were challenging. I couldn’t keep up with the classes at points. Despite all of those setbacks, I would do it again and again. Danielle is a remarkable person that pushed me respectfully, knowing my situation, modified some of the workouts to make sure I wasn’t to hurt myself. Siobhan called me to check my progress. Random members of the gym would encourage me even though, comparably, I was doing a laughable amount of weight. The preconceived notions I had at the beginning of the ) weeks were all nonsense. I can testify that this gym is a special place where they would embrace a person like me, out of shape, sick, struggling and trying my best, and help me and give me advice. Ask how I was doing and actually care about the answer. This is a community that I would absolutely recommend to anyone, regardless of fitness level to give a try. I promise it will exceed all of your expectations.

I have recently finished the 6 week challenge at Locomotive. Crossfit had always been an idea in my head that i wanted to do. Going through the challenege opened the door to the bring this idea to realty. And let me say i am glad i did it. We started the challenege out with a 2 coaches and our sepereate classes. When we merged into the actual classes the other coaches were amazing.. The whole community at this gym is amazing even the other members were welcoming. I do not think i could be where i am today with out the group and the community that surronds them.

I can't say enough about how Locomotive changed me. I started by joining a 6 week challenge and now that I've completed it I decided to remain a member. I was very intimidated before my challenge started but the day I walked into my first class I felt comfortable. During the first 6 weeks I've changed mentally, physically and did things I never thought I was capable of. Coaches are attentative and care about not only form but push you to do the best you can and modify as needed. If your thinking about making a positive change in your life and meeting great people I recommend contacting Locomotive and try it out.

LocoMotive Crossfit has changed my life. Sure I have lost weight, but it’s more than just that. I have changed my outlook on myself and have finally figured out the nutrition end of everything. Now that my 6 week challenge is over, I am staying on as a member. The owner and trainers actually care about you and your successes and failures. They pay attention to what your body can do/not yet do and work with you so you can succeed. This is not your average gym; this is way more challenging! But at the same time, way more rewarding. I am a member for life!
