::Wonderful, wonderful memories. About 13 years ago (circa 2000) I took a ride through Revere, where I grew up. Shirley Avenue (where all the "action" was), Walnut Avenue where I lived, Beach St where bube and zayde lived...all changed! The most dramatic change was the disappearance of Liberty school which I attended from 2nd - 6th grade (ie 1941 - 1945). I remember well the "haunted house" we visited regularly, the "scrap" drives (to aid the war effort) Swartz' Deli on Shirley Ave (10 cents for a corned beef sandwich), the movie theatre (12 cents for a double feature) with a "serial" and the Pathe news. We left Revere in 1945, immediately after the war (WW II) but Revere has never left my heart.
