I'm a Mexican food aficionado. This is one if my favourite Taco shops. It gets very busy but people cozy up at large tables. The food is fresh and fast!

This happens to be the only burrito Iā€™ve tried in the mission to this date. The experience is authentic. From waitresses who take your order in broken English to lines wrapped around the tables filled with both international tourists and local Mexican workers. The food line looks like a cafeteria scene out of movie. Young women take servings from bowls overflowing with guacamole and sour cream to slop on top of your burrito while older men run the grill and meat station, furiously chopping fresh cuts to be added to the burritos. Overall, itā€™s disorienting. Especially for a first timer. Might be better to come at a time when there isnā€™t a rush, though Iā€™m not sure that ever exists. To be truthful, the burrito as a whole is good, not great. The lack of rice, though authentic, allows the burrito to leak the liquid of the beans through the tortilla. The individual ingredients are delicious. The homemade salsas and guacamole are great, and should be ordered with chips on the side. I do recommend ordering the burrito ā€œDorado Style,ā€ which instructs them to the grill the final burrito on the flat top to make a crispy outside for a juicy (somewhat runny) inside.

La Tacqueria is a bit of a legend in Northern California. It's won some amazing awards - most notably the best burrito in the United States. After waiting about 30 minutes in line for a burrito, I'll be honest and say - I'm not sure if it was worth the wait. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it didn't blow all other burritos out of the water. It didn't send me to another dimension. Maybe I was expecting too much, but as a burrito fanatic trying "the best burrito in the U.S." and after waiting 30 minutes, it was a bit underwhelming. Will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area and there's no line, but I don't think that's likely.

I donā€™t know if this is the best burrito place in the world but Iā€™ll tell you what is not the best; the line and the seating. As good as the food is itā€™s diminished by the atmosphere of the restaurant. The seating is really tight and thereā€™s a line of people smashed together throughout the entire restaurant. We had a burrito, a taco and chips with guacamole for $25. The food was fine. Parking was difficult in that you have to find an open spot at a meter somewhere around the vicinity. I doubt I would return.

When thereā€™s a long line up in San Fran, you know itā€™s definitely a place you gotta try out! Did my research prior to our trip and found that this place was really popular for Your Mexican food fix. It was worth the wait and price isnā€™t so bad. Everything is made fresh right in front of you and staff are efficient and friendly. Must try when youā€™re in the Mission District area, close to Balmy Alley where all the art murals are.
