  Fresh, delicious pastries, friendly staff, and gorgeous cakes in a historic buildng in Boyle Heights, overlooking downtown Los Angeles - it all adds up to a great coffeehouse! I was particularly impressed by how La Monarca is a bakery/coffeehouse representative of the neighborhood and people. I hope to return to try special items like the tres leches cake, horchata cake, the variety of pan dulce and specialized cookies. I enjoyed my tea latte and a dulce de leche croissant, but next time, I'm buying more to take home to the family! A special place, for sure!

  I always go for my coffee , but recently , to many students are there ,they just buy a coffee and stayed longer ,more than 1 hour, and no table available, to sit down, I went last Friday and i saw some guys playing cards. Nobody takes controls of that.i don't like that place no more. The management needs to put control , I mean limited time...

  Visiting LA from Seattle, I was resigned to the prospect of sub-par coffee, but then I found this gem! Their espresso is flavorful without being burnt, and they have a wide variety of delicious pastries. My only regret is that I didn't stay long enough to try them all!

  For those who love cake come try there pastries here. The staff is also amazing here and give you samples of the cake to try. The price is cheap and worth coming back for. Its also such a cozy place as well.
