One of the most interesting museums I've ever been to! It's interactive and the staff is so friendly, they won't hesitate to answer a question. The line runs smoothly and they even have interactive pens so you can learn more about what you're seeing! I would highly recommend taking a stop in this museum when you visit Manhattan.

The Cooper Hewitt is the second design themed museum I've visited and unfortunately, I've been disappointed with both. There is a tremendous breadth in all things related to design, yet the Cooper Hewitt only touches a very limited sliver. This may be due to the relatively small size of the museum. The museum world needs much more to showcase this diverse art genre. There is one item at the museum that did redeemed my visit and had me smiling from ear to ear. It's the Sensory Chairs that provide vibrating sensations like a DBOX at the movie theatre. "A mole in a game of Whack-a-Mole" is one of the more tamer examples. The garden and patio area is also a wonderful place to spend some time. I spent about 1 1/2 hours at the museum and an hour enjoying the sun in the wonderful garden.

AMAZING museum. In a beautiful building too. I asked a guard about the history of the building, and he spent about 20 minutes telling me everything. His name was Garfield and he was awesome! The exhibits are so creative and exciting. My favorite was the sensory one on the top floor. You can pet a furry wall that makes orchestra sounds, smell a bunch of scents meant to involve memories, and tons more. I also liked the exhibit on devices to assist handicapped people. My favorite device was a computer you can control by looking at different parts of a screen! The building is formerly the mansion of Andrew Carnegie and it's beautiful. There is a gift shop with really interesting items in every price range (I got some little handmade wooden tops for $7 each). There is also a cafe with sandwiches, coffee, and pastries. Outside is a gorgeous sitting area with tables, benches, and a green lawn. There's a sign posted saying anyone can enjoy this space, even if you aren't going to the museum. Google maps instructed me to enter through the back garden, but the museum entrance is actually around the other side of the building.

I LOVE this museum! You can really tell that the curators put a lot of heart and soul into creating a thought-provoking environment here. A lot of the museum's exhibits incorporate interactivity in them, which is fantastic because how often do you get to touch things in an art museum?! They also host cocktail events Thursday nights in the summer for free. Make sure to grab a photo in the conservatory room, it is absolutely stunning and has beautiful views of their lush greenspace.
