::I've lived in Melrose for the past 6 years and I have come to this discount store on several occasions and one thing that hasn't changed is the owner's discriminatory treatment of black clientele. Most of the times when the owner would have a hardened face and not speak, I would give her the benefit of doubt and say, "maybe she's having a bad day or is overworked." However, today when I stood in line in front of two women who were not black, I noticed the owner made small talk and was very friendly/ polite. The moment I approached the counter to pay she turned her face stone cold and didn't say a word to me. Instead she overlooked me and started to talk to a white man and his son waiting in line behind me. I wanted to lash out because my money just like everyone else's money is helping this store to stay in business and put food in her family's mouth. BUT that ENDS TODAY! When owners mistreat and dismiss minorities, particularly black people they don't deserve a dime of our money! I prayed she was just a miserable witch and not a racism, but today as validated her true feelings and I'm glad I no longer need to guess. P.S. She stated her foot hurt to one of the women in line because when she got a pedicure, they cut her foot.... maybe that wasn't an accident but karma
