  KMI does a great job teaching practical techniques while building community. If you consistently go for a while, you get to see familiar faces and friends, while learning neat material. You can be casual or serious - classes are suitable for both. And the instructors are friendly and welcoming. I didn't think I would stay long, but after 7-8 months, I found myself interested in taking the first level exam, and it was very rewarding after finishing. KMI has a clear curriculum, which makes setting milestones easy. Starting out, equipment isn't essential, but overtime you'll probably want some basic equipment for safety purposes. I personally want to minimize the equipment I need, and I eased into what I needed pretty comfortably, so I wouldn't say equipment is an issue. We'll see going forward for higher levels.

  The "How to Survive a Bar Fight" 3 hour class was well taught and consisted of useful information and techniques. It was given in a bar, which allowed the instructor to realistically point out important features of bars like exit locations, floor surfaces, lighting, ambient noise, objects on and behind the bar and other objects scattered around the bar (e.g. chairs, tables, coat racks, hangers). The class then progressed to "de-escalation" techniques and then to counters against actual attacks. The material taught seemed accessible to the majority of the students, many of whom study Krav Maga, judging by their t-shirts. FWIW, about 1/4 of the students were female. Most of the time was spent practicing the techniques with a partner or partners. The instructor and assistant instructors circulated around the room giving valuable pointers to the students. The class was safe. Students did not get hurt. I recommend this class to folks who spend time in bars and clubs.

  I would be lying if I said KMI is not for everyone, it absolutely, positively is! The inclusive environment established by the good-natured instructors attracts folks from all walks of life. Regardless of age, size, or gender you will learn some invaluable self defense techniques and have fun while doing it. Before KMI, I found gym life to be a snooze but not anymore. Now I have a blast while getting in the best shape of my life and learning how to defend myself. I can't recommend it enough.

  In November 2017 I became a member of KMI, actually immediately after the induction. That shows how fascinated I was by the first impression of training quality and the open and friendly welcome to the world of Krav. After starting to go regularly (around 2 to 4 times a week), I started to met more and more of the KMI coaches. They are all amazing people on a personal level and for sure experts in their field. The classes confirmed what I have seen during the induction. A respectful, familiar and supportive atmosphere of trainers and students to help you achieve your goals but challenging you at the same time. Kida my friends and a happy new year!
