  Peaceful, beautiful and poignant. To see (so many !) families whose many children all died as infants... Reminds one to be thankful for modern medicine. Also, the cemetery is an often-amusing source of names, thanks to its history and the origins of its residents. Birdsall ? Bacon ? Thistlena ? Awesome. This place is huge. Good for study, reflexion, mourning, a walk or relaxation.

  Always a pleasure to visit Green-Wood. The grounds are beautifully kept, and with a cemetery this huge and beautiful you can get lost in the peace and quiet for hours. You'll absolutely forget you're in Brooklyn. There are huge trees that are hundreds of years old, gorgeous mausoleums (my favorite is the Wood mausoleum - take a peek inside.), the catacombs are really cool too! There's so much to explore, you won't regret taking a relaxing drive through Green-Wood Cemetery.

  Tommy the guard helped me find the grave of an ancestor.after I'd been hunting for an hour without luck. He was amazing and super sweet and I loved talking to him about genealogy. The cemetery is beautiful and was a great experience. Thank you, Tommy, for making my whole day. :)
