  I walked in after leaving Scissors & Comb where the reception for my scheduled cut was indifferent, icy. Little to no eye contact, no smiles, really weird vibe, so I left. I was also the only African American in the salon at the moment. Definitely did not want to force my money on them. At KIBANI, I asked for someone experienced with natural hair. Donna was recommended, we talked, I had a picture of the desired cut and Donna did a great job. She really listens and is able to effectively talk with you about how a cut needs to be executed to get the desired results, then she does it. Very professional and considerate personality too.

  I called Kibana last year to schedule a prenatal massage and the receptionist told me she'd find out if the person who does that type of massage was available and she'd call me back to confirm. No one ever called me back, so I assumed they did not have anyone. I only received a call after my appointment time to see why I wasn't there yet.... Fast forward a year - last week, I called to schedule a massage for my sister and me - different rooms but at the same time. The receptionist told me they only have 1 massage therapist working at a time but she'd put us on the schedule and call their "on call" guy to see if he could come in. She said she'd call me back to confirm. A full week went by and no one ever called me back. This time I called to tell them to take us off the schedule. I called Blue Heron Wellness and they accommodated my request immediately. My 1 star rating is just for the front desk as I can't seem to get past them to actually get in and see what the salon and its services are like.

  I've had several lash tints here. The staff are friendly and usually running on time, however the quality is not there for me. During my last lash tint she did not use anything other than Vaseline to protect the skin around my eyes from the dye (other salons I've been to have always used cotton pads as well as Vaseline). This meant my skin also got dyed, and she had to spend a long time painfully trying to scrub it off, leaving my skin red and irritated. She could not get all the dye off and I had to continue trying to remove it at home. My lashes were well-dyed but it was a bit too unpleasant for me to want to go back. The price was also more than they advertised on their website.

  The service was great and probably only a 5 minute wait! First time at a salon and they were all very friendly and helpful!

  The service is always exceptional. Specifically, I have been going to see Angelica for the past couple of years and she delivers some of the best facials I have ever had. She takes the time to see what my skin needs, and tailors the service specifically for any problems I may be experiencing. My skin glows when I leave. In addition, I recently had her do my eyebrows for the first time, and they have not looked this sculpted in a long time. Her work is excellent.
