::Passing through and so very glad we stopped. Awesome place! Great food and superb service. Highly recommend to everyone. Will definitely go back.

::This place is always packed, and shows up on several lists of top places to get a fish fry in the city, so my girlfriend and I thought we would give it a try. We went on a Friday, and tried to get there early, since there was a 2 hour wait the first time we tried eating there. We walked in at about 5, and were told the wait was 30 minutes. The atmosphere and interior of the restaurant was lovely - we liked the stained glass and old German beer hall decor. I ordered a stain of beer while we waited. The lobby and bar area became totally packed and a bit claustrophobic. We waited over an hour to be seated and were feeling hangry since that is double the time we were quoted initially. The server took our order - classic cod fish fry and a seafood platter. She brought out some much needed rye bread while we waited for our food. The food came out very quickly. The fish was average - we didn't much like the crispy breading since we prefer more of a melt in your mouth batter or tempura. The fries were overdone and seemed cheap. However, the tartar sauce was delicious and tangy, and I think the potato pancakes were best I ever ate. Server never asked how anything was until she was bringing the check and we had to ask a busgirl for extra tartar. Overall, we thought the food was average and the service was poor. Not the worst fish fry we ever had, but not worth the hour long wait.

::This is the kind of place you can safely recommend to others. Always a full house, and for good reason. The food is well made, with generous portions. Kegel's is on most people's lists for best fish fry. Owner Julian is a remarkably friendly guy. You may have a wait when you get there, but buy a drink and enjoy a good time.

::First time was for a fish fry - way too crowded on Friday, but thankfully during Lent there is Wednesday fish fry! Excellent service, very attentive, and good mid-week fish fry. Cannot wait to come back for the great German fare. I think the beer selection could be expanded, but great at keeping it classic.

::Step one: make a reservation. I cannot stress this enough. Step two: enjoy delicious fish fry (I loved the platter). The potato pancakes are delicious and not to be missed. The decor is classic German Milwaukee. In sum, it's super busy for a reason, because it's really that good.
