  I recently had the opportunity to buy two horns, trading one, at KB. The first thing you should know is that Kim is not only a ridiculous talent which makes watching his horn demos on YouTube a joy, but he's also a terrific guy when you meet him. He's kind, patient and incredibly honest and straight-forward. Example: Even as I was deep into play-testing a few altos of considerable value, he didn't hesitate to bring over a few used necks (not his) to see if those on my current horn might give me a better set up. The studio is warm and inviting, and his team there is completely cool. It can be somewhat intimidating if you're not a top pro player to walk into a shop like that, surrounded by amazing horns and amazing musicians. I've felt that at other places, but not at KB. Its a great place and I couldn't recommend Kim highly enough. If you're anywhere remotely close to NY, or online and in the market for a great horn, it makes sense to buy from someone who really knows what they're doing, is fairly priced and is a pleasure to deal with!

  Kim's reputation as a great repairman and a person who provides extraordinary customer service prompted me to pay a visit to his studio. His attention to detail and thoughtful custom service exceeded my expectations. A great performance deserves applause and Kim gets a standing ovation from me. Do not hesitate to stop in or make an appointment with Kim, you'll not be disappointed.

  Kim is absolutely amazing. Great repair person but so much more. Makes incredible modern necks, played by folks such as Joe Lovano and Ravi Coltrane. Also great vintage horn and mouthpiece options. Worth a visit for any horn player passing through NYC.
