  This is a very interesting place to spend some time...The museum exhibits rare documents, and is also a venue for local artists to show their works... Also the museum has been host to a local poetry group, form time to time. The collection on display is changed every three months. The museum also is home to a few pieces of an ancient Egyptian Temple, which is on permanent display. The museum itself is housed in a former bank building, built in 1923...It too, is something you could just look at for days...It was built with the best materials and craftsmanship at the time... The museum Director, Brian Denniston is incredibly knowledgeable of the history of the local area, and the history of the bank building itself...

  Wonderful old bank building that Mr Karpeles saved. They change the theme every quarter. Now original letter from the Wright Brothers and the early stages of flight, I seen baseball, art, early info on slavery.

  I went just to check the place out. Some of the exhibits were boring. Some were pretty cool. The architecture is spectacular. You have to go just to look. The main room is so instagram worthy. The history of the building is pretty interesting too. It used to be a bank so you can kind of see how they transformed the space. There are still original old school style vaults and elevators and doorways very...vintage. It's a cool place if you're into that kind of stuff.

  Dr. David Karpeles, a mathematician, inventor, and real estate investor has a love of history and in particular history recorded via manuscripts. He is the owner of an extensive manuscript collection which is circulated via twelve Karpeles museums throughout the United States, of which the Karpeles Manuscript Library in Newburgh is one. The building is grand, and the site of a former bank. It needs some TLC and in some areas a paint job, but overall it is a wonderful, classical space to house historical items of importance. It's impressive space is capped by a dramatic, coffered ceiling, hanging gothic lamps, and an impressive bank vault as well as a conference room and an office featuring dramatic wood paneling. When you visit, you may find an Einstein Manuscript, or a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Lincoln, depending upon the scheduled rotation. Simply check in at the Library's website to find out what the current exhibit is. It was Mr. Karpeles' dream to provide children with the rich learning experience of seeing important historical documents in person, and his various libraries accomplish this.
