My family’s favorite place in town. I’m from the South and this place cooks things right. I’m not sure which I like better, the staff, or the food. The lady that serves there most of the time has a lovely disposition, and my guess is the cook is probably the owner. When we first started going there it was just the 2 of them but they had to have hired more folks due to the place’s growing popularity.

I normally don't leave bad reviews, but it is hard to believe that all of these good reviews can be legit. Had someone posted an honest review of this place before I went, I would be better for it. It was expensive, slow, and the food was terrible. The burger and hash-browns were pre-frozen and from a factory. Everything was greasy and underwhelming. The prices were way too high. The tap water tasted terrible. There is no atmosphere, except for the constant awareness that you must be participating in a money laundering front because it's not a restaurant. Pros: My eggs were cooked perfectly.

I fell in love 4 days ago. Honestly, the best chicken ever. It was cooked perfectly. The skin was not soggy, not too crispy, and the seasoning was just delightful. I ordered the eggs, bacon, grits, and sausage (just like the song, duh) with a side of collard greens. My partner had the chicken and waffles. I couldn't believe how amazing everything was; I was in nirvana. The greens weren't overwhelmed with the bacon flavor, which I personally prefer and there was the perfect amount of butter in the grits. I've been bragging about my experience because it put me on top of the world! If you haven't gone here yet, you are missing out.

Delicious hole in the wall chicken and waffles restaurant. I love chicken and waffles...and this is the best in Tucson by far. Waffles smell of vanilla, chicken is spiced perfectly. Plenty of hot sauce on the counter to choose from (although I bet the chef could make a mean hot sauce that would put this over the top=) Everyone in the place raved about the burgers as well... I am writing this review craving some now which brings me to my only complaint - closed by 7pm and I can't get my fix! Don't expect fancy but do expect greatness! Support local businesses!

Okay first things first, DO NOT MISS THIS SPOT! It is kind of easy to drive pass but even if you have to turn around 4 times, it is worth the trip. I'm a southern boy who knows his chicken and waffles. May's Chicken Counter is pretty alright but believe me when I tell you this IS the chicken and waffles joint in Tucson. I had the Queen, which is a waffle with "chicken breast" according to the menu. However, the Queen brings three succulent, perfectly seasoned strips of chicken breast. These aren't your Tyson's out of the freezer strips, these puppies are loaded with just as much chicken as they are flavor. Now this isn't to sleep on the waffle cause they do that perfectly as well. The waffle has just the right amount of sweetness to it but not too much to where it masks your seasoned chicken. If you are in the market of pleasing your stomach do yourself a favor and come on in.
