::Island Assisted Living located in Hempstead was a pleasant surprise. I have had experiences with two other facilities so I can see the difference. The tone and success starts with the top. Sam Horowitz the Administrator from Island was always approachable, attentive, and helpful since day 1. His staff is the same. They strive to keep the facility and their residents safe and clean. They have many activities. I love that they have many available rooms for the residents to hang out in. Lounge areas, kitchen areas, tv area, library/computer area. If you're looking for a facility for your loved one, this is it. Don't let huge chandeliers hanging in the lobby at other facilities blind you. Island always made me feel that they understood my concerns. They work with you. Island is located near the borderline of Uniondale. I always felt safe visiting.

::My father spent parts of 2 years at Island Assisted Living. He was new to the assisted living scene but the staff at Island was very welcoming and made sure my father was safe and comfortable. The living situation can include single rooms or double rooms with great care to find a good roommate match in my father's case. Rooms are clean, equipped with telephone and television. Food and medications are always prepared on time and light snacks, coffee, and tea are available. There are social activities such as day trips to local stores and regularly scheduled games and movies. Most importantly, Sam, Bella, and all the other wonderful staff at Island are always easy to contact and friendly from our experience. Overall, I felt Island provided a safe place for my father and should be a consideration for those seeking assisted living for a loved one in the Nassau County area.

::This is a very good place for the elderly who need some kind of assistance because they cannot be on there own. the facility is clean and the staff is very compassionate to the residents that live there. The process to get my dad there was not a difficult one and they made him feel comfortable with his transition to an assisted living facility.

::Island Assisted Living is a wonderful care facility when it comes to medical care and assistance for your love ones. The Island Assisted Living staff are very attentive to your family member needs as well as keeping families informed about their well being. The staff are friendly and professional. They have a lot of activities for your relative to participate to keep them busy and active. I would recommend this Assisted Living Care Facility of choice for residence for your love one.

::My Mom has been a widow and alone for 32 years. She has refused to move to LA where my wife and I live. A couple of years ago it was apparent she could no longer live alone. We are extremely close, we speak every day, I come to NY 4-6 times a year to visit her. I tell you all this because my Mom's well being is my top priority. That being said I did my due diligence and checked out every assisted living facility on Long Island. I can tell you without reservation that Island Assisted Living was the best place I found to ensure my Mom was well cared for and happy where she would be residing. My Mom couldn't be happier! The care and concern she receives from every staff member is superb. She receives her daily Meds, her physical therapy, a little help dressing or bathing, if needed, daily room cleaning, laundry twice a week, excursions to restaurants and shopping, transportation arranged to her doctor's appointments, her meals served in a well appointed dining room where she has her regular table with her friends. The ding room staff insures my Mom gets her daily favorites. She's made so many friends at Island there isn't a big enough table to accommodate them all sitting together. Most importantly, it truly is a family like atmosphere there. She loves everybody, and they love her back. Island constantly strives to improve the quality of life for their residents. In the year and a half my Mom has been there the food keeps improving (a big part of daily life there.) she like the activities provided to the residents, including afternoon snacks. My Mom is prone to failing, and she has had a few accidents. But Island is always on top of it. Their communication with me, and keeping me informed could not be better, even with the 3 hour time difference. The senior staff makes sure the facility is clean, and well managed. The Administrator, Sam Horowitz, knows everything that goes on there, and even know all 200 or so residents personally, and by name. The finance department run by Bella Beer, with the able assistance of Ari, submit clear, concise and accurate monthly invoices. Ari goes a step further and provides me with a monthly ledger, so that when my Mom forgets to tell me what's in her personal account, I know to the penny what she has, and what she needs. Today, for example, Betsy, my Mom's case manager/social worker called me to let me know my Mom needed more pants, and was it OK to purchase them. I know this review is long, but my Mom means everything to me, I'm not in NY all the time, and Island gives me the peace of mind knowing she's not alone she's getting the best care possible, and that they are making her life as happy as she can be. Therefore, I would give Island my highest recommendation with any reservations to anyone looking for a top notch assisted living facility for a loved one.
