::Unbelievable experience trying to obtain a firearm permit - I filed my application in mid-late December 2012, and the state received my $75 payment on January 2, 2013. Over 7 months later I still have not received my permit, despite state law stating a decision shall be made within 60 days. The woman answering the phone and attending to the window at the office downtown (her name is Amber) seems to take it personally when I call or visit the office to inquire about the status of my application; she responds quite rudely, as if it is my fault the process has taken so long. She claims that the delay is due to the fact that I have an arrest history (one DUI arrest which was later dismissed) and that I did not provide a street address on my application. However, she refuses to provide me a copy of my application, which I suspect has a street address. After providing a change of address form (because I moved in this 7 month period), Amber confirms my application will now go to the end of the line.
