  Gorgeous shop with amazing selection of unique mid-century, coolest of cool stuff. Mike is super knowledgeable and restores every item himself - he has very high standards of quality and won't sell anything that doesn't meet those standards. I can't recommend highly enough.

  We got three beautiful, meticulously restored floor lamps from Mike's shop. Mike is very passionate about every object in his shop and provides great service and answers any questions. On our visit to the shop, we bought one lamp but couldn't get the other two out of our heads. We purchased the other two lamps later and Mike delivered them to our home for free. They all look great in our place.

  I have been acquainted with Mike Kollman, of I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern, for several years. The first time we met in his shop, I purchased a lovely vintage teak ice bucket. We kept in touch for a long time after that, and in the last few months, I commissioned Mike to restore and reupholster two pairs of mid-century chairs; one, a pair of Danish Modern lounge chairs that were purchased by my parents, in 1964, and the other is a pair of Pierre Jeanneret Scissor Chairs that my wife and I purchased 13 years ago, that were in questionable condition. Now, they are all looking fresh and gorgeous, having been taken apart and put back together, with tasteful new upholstery and strong glue joints, and rubbed-out finishes that have that lovely old satin patina. Here's what I have to say about Mike and his professional aesthetic. He attends to every project with more care and sensitivity than the average crafts person. When I communicate with Mike through the process and then see the final product, I know that this is someone who has a great love for the objects he restores, as well as a profound respect for the designers, their designs, and his clients. His skills and breadth of knowledge—and not just about furniture and clocks—are outstanding. On a personal note, Mike is congenial, intelligent, polite, affable, and with a great sense of humor, he is prepared to deal cordially with the public. It is without hesitation that I can recommend a visit to his Bedford-Stuyvesant shop some Saturday afternoon—it's like a walk through the 1950s—and if you need to have a piece of precious Mid-Century Modern furniture or family heirloom restored to glorious condition, Mike Kollman is your man.
