  I wish I could give this place “0” stars. I work in the veterinary field, and my cousin had adopted a cat named George. He was a sweet, older cat needing a home; his original owner was an elderly lady who passed away It breaks my heart to write a review about a shelter; since I want nothing but the best for these animals..especially to see them come to the veterinary hospital for routine check ups all happy, and loved.. but research this place. George had congestive heart failure. For most of you who have had pets, and or have had a pet with this issue.. you do or can approach this type of illness. My cousin was not made away of those prior, and George needed to continue to be on a specific type of medication continuously, as it was such a bad case.. ultimately, George was going to pass, but within the two weeks of my cousin owning him. Having rushed him to the emergency hospital, to find out his lungs/chest were filling with fluids.. she tried everything she could. After the first procedure to remove fluids, it came back again a little later that day.. while staying at oah. The animal was in pain, and suffering because they felt it was alright to take George off lasix. Lasix is a heart diaretic. Needless to saying, they did not make her aware of this, did not give her medication before she left, and told her “bring him two our vet in two weeks”.. George had passed, in pain from fluids building in his chest within a week and a half. Since my cousin has tried to contact the Manager Kathy; we have had no calls back (as she signed a contract/help with medical cost if within 2 weeks they are sick or pass).. and has lied saying she was only the “phone” operator. When I called and spoke with a gentlemen, he said they have no phone operator and Kathy IS the manager. We have reached out nurmerous times, their vet hasn’t called, she hasn’t called etc. what the gentleman said was “they thought it was a cold. He was on antibiotics”.. and they stopped the lasix. He sounded “good”. They not only refuse to call, they lie, and refuse to help. Leaving her with a 2000 dollar bill, and them breaching the contract. (Oh I forgot to mention. They made her wait over two weeks to bring him home too.. because of his “cold”) Hytor in NY is a great place to adopt, rabari, claws so on and forth. This place is evil.

  Came here looking for a dog for my mother in law. They only had one small and who wouldn't be a good fit. So, i asked if they had cats and they showed me the backroom. MAN!!! I messed up. lol I fell in love with one cuddle bug called Hansel. As soon as I picked him up, he just started purring and snuggling. I fell in love immediately. I knew I could not go home without this kitty! So we have a new addition to our family. The man working was really kind and the blonde woman was super sweet as well! The cats are well taken care of and they seem happy for kitties in cages. The sale area needs a dusting, but I understand how busy they are and being short handed it gets lost in the shuffle. They do excellent work and they care about their fur babies!

  I just adopted a beautiful Shih Tzu from them, and I highly recommend this facility. I've been recently working with many rescue places that have lied to me and I didn't get the dogs sure to hidden health issues. But all I found at Bergen county humane society was friendliness and genuineness from the very first interaction. I spoke to 4 different people, and each one consistently said the same thing, and were all so very helpful. They truly care about the animal's welfare. I highly recommend!!

  I wold give this no stats if i could. I went to the place 4:20 on Thursday hoping to see some kittens instead I go there and the front door is open. Then a note said to push the doorbell of the second door that was there then waiter some to open the door. So i pushed the door bell d waited for about 12 mins then tried again so may times. I was legit there for an you doing that. This place is stupid and if should be shut down immediately.

  Came here because I'm away from my own cat. Donating to this place, the worker was very knowledgeable and the cats were all relaxed and happy. I wish I could take some home! He was very nice about letting me come back when I wanted to give these cats company :) they're all sweethearts
