::We came away feeling that this was probably a perfect hotel for tourists traveling with their kids. The rates are reasonable by DC standards, it's clean, the staff is super friendly and cooperative, and it's located within a short walk of the Mall and many museums. If you're an older traveler, however, all the kids running around and just being kids can be a bit hard to take after a tiring day of being a tourist -- especially in the restaurant, where there's an OK buffet and a fair amount of noise. On the plus side, food-wise, you can order room service and by-pass the frenetic activity downstairs. Of paramount importance to us older travelers, however, is that the hotel backs up on the Amtrack train tracks, and if you have a room in back of the hotel, or on the side, you will hear trains passing all through the night-- and starting at 6:30 am, they blow their air horns as they come through, just in case you might be sleeping and not know they were there. So be forewarned and ask for a quiet room in front where there are no trains clacking across your pillow.

::I checked in for a 5 day stay and noticed my room was very hot. I checked the thermostat and it was at 65 the coolest available setting. I suffered 2 days then finally called the front desk. The lady took my number and told me that if I don't call you everything is ok as I was leaving out for the day. Neva received a phone call but still came back to a scorching room. I call the front desk again and she said I'm sending CLARENCE up to your room. Clarence came and immediately found the problem. The ac was not hooked up. He hit a switch and I instantly felt the difference. Clarence also changed the air filter. Being a bus driver I know the value of great customer service and I wanted to tip Clarence but he wasn't having that. He said I don't want your money I get satisfaction when I see a smile on my customers face. Wow!!!!! If the world had more Clarence's it would be a better place. Thanks Clarence your the best.

::This hotel had great customer service. Everything was sanitary and I didn't run into any problems at all. The staff was friendly and it is an ideal location as there are many places of interest within a 15 minute walking distance.

::The lobby was great! However, I'm pregnant and the closest bathroom was under maintenance. So, I had a pretty long walk to the next closest bathroom. The Starbucks is nice but very small. Definitely plan to sit in the lobby if you go.

::Hotel is in a fantastic location, right near the Washington DC Mall, and close to federal buildings. It's a short walk to the capital building, Botanical Garden, Smithsonian and many other things you want to see in DC. The hotel has decent rooms although my TV didn't work very well and it took forever for the shower water to become hot. There's a cute little rooftop pool, bar and fitness center. The hotel is very family friendly. There's a pantry with a decent selection as well as the capital Bistro and another restaurant that had good food at a reasonable price. There's a Starbucks connected to the hotel. There's a parking lot right next to the hotel that cost about $40 a day. The hotel is within walking distance to the DC Metro blue line that can take you many different places in the Capital District. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
