  This has to be the WORST D.O.B. in NJ. I submit permits for every project we do. Normally its quick within 3-4days they call me , come pick up your permits they are ready. Its been over a month now and the permits are not approved yet. I am not building a home , just remodeling a bathroom. It appears there is only one employee there and he is overworked.

  Horrible place to do business with .. Unfriendly, overworked people doing all work by hand ... No computers used at all.. Took forever to get a permit and even worst to attempt to close it !!!

  DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVER DIY ANYTHING IN HOBOKEN REQUIRING A PERMIT. Honestly I don't know what goes on a this office. I have been to this office no less than SIX times for the same thing. Each time, they tell me I can only get it resolved by one person, and this one illusionary person is never there so I can't get my paper signed. The only thing they will tell you is that there's nothing they can do until that one person shows up. I have waited for over a month to get my document signed. NOBODY there is helpful. I have never yelled or spoken unkindly to anyone at this office but kindness does not get anything done with the building department. I am letting everyone know to never attempt to do any home renovation as they will not help you.
