  When is the last time you joined a martial arts school, and the headmaster of the school (yes, the actual head of the dojang) personally teaches you the basics? That's very, very rare these days. Not only is Master Jo one of the best masters I've had the honor to train under, but also are the other members that I train with where we all want to help each other improve and bring out the best in us. No one judges based on rank. I can say, I improved so much since I first started in 2013 because I had the fortune to have so many black belts teach me along with Master Jo. I will never give up Kumdo.

  Great school , open for all ages and ability Levels . Master Jo can both guide newcomers into the world of swordsmanship and challenge experience Practitioners to improve . Classes are fun , great workout and you will always learn something new . Friendly atmosphere .

  Been there for about 3 weeks and have seen many improvements in my physical condition. Best part is i dont have to go to a boring gym and i cant wait for the next class and see when i can wear the armor. I love the tradition, training and aspects of learning the art. Master Jo and its members and teachers are driven to teach you the art in its proper form, emphasizing on tradition, art and physical conditioning. I have been looking for an alternative since my injury 7 year ago and my body took its toll. Ever since joining, i already feel that my posture is getting better, my back is feeling stronger and i have more energy. I recommend this to anybody of any age. We even have seniors 70yrs plus...and no joke, one of them just had its physical check up and said that after so many years of diabetes, hes completely diabetes free...im sure that HMK played a big role in that as i can witness the effects on my own

  If you want to learn a sword martial art and you live in the New York-NJ area then visit HMK. The Master Instructors, senior students are some of the best Kendo players in the region and visiting international, national and regional players train there frequently as well. I travel 6 hours round trip several days a week to practice...I think that says it all about how much I value the training and fellowship. Stop by!

  I've been going to HMK for about three years now and it's been phenomenal. I started Kumdo when I was in third grade and been to many different schools as I moved around a lot and HMK is definitely one of the best I've been to. Master Jo's approach to Kumdo which emphasizes patience, self discipline, continuous learning and strong fundamentals is what really resonated with me.
