::Wish I could rate them a -5 stars. Paid for my rental and insurance in full through the AAA website with my visa logo debit card. Went to pick up my rental in Groton CT on a Saturday late morning using my visa logo debit card for our $200 incidental deposit. Once I placed my debit card on the counter for the bully of a woman behind the desk, she barely looked at my card before throwing it back at me like a bad hand of poker! Rudely demanding she needs a major credit card or she cannot release the rental. I explained that the rental has already been paid in full online with this exact card. She asked for our confirmation paperwork, while looking through it she completely ignored our panicked questions. Handing back our paperwork after highlighting a sentence stating "debit cards are not excepted for prepayment." Not picking up on the contradiction I asked for a supervisor. She highlighted a number on a pamphlet for me to call. I immediately called in the office. While on hold the women behind the desk dealt with another customer. She was overly friendly, condescending and provoking, loudly giggling to them "you guys are my special friends I will pull some strings for you." The, although very nice, Hertz employee on the phone could not over ride the decision making of an in-store employee. I left the location without our rental car and with very limited time to rent another before having to cancel our sons 13th birthday trip to Virginia. Immediately calling AAA travel agency explaining my situation, they found me a Cheaper rental within 15 miles using only my debit card through ENTERPRISE. The only rental company to use. Now it was time to get my refund for the rental I never used. Calling the customer service line I received 3 different answers speaking with 3 different Hertz employees on separate occasions. Each one assuring me I heard wrong information the last call and they are supplying the correct solution. One of which blamed the misinformation on the AAA WEBSITE. I have yet to receive my refund. The district manager has yet to contact me or the in house supervisor at their Oklahoma location. I would like to know my complaint has been submitted and seen by the appropriate Hertz representative, as well as an explanation of their no debit card policy. Being a small business owner I cannot fathom how Hertz is still in business. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH.

::Hertz is HORRIBLE. On 10/01/14, I rented a Hertz vehicle for my company and used my credit card insurance. I was HIT by a yellow taxi in NYC and cops were called. I returned the car with the incident report stating that the taxi was "At Fault". Hertz then sent me a letter expressing I'm liable for there damaged car. I expressed my credit card has car rental insurance. I also expressed that they have the police report and should file the claim with the taxi service to have the vehicle fixed (which the service department handles). A recovery specialist by the name of Bilal Avant sends a letter and when I called to express that the car has insurance, he then told me it was too late and I was liable. He also stated that they don't do reach out to involved parties unless it was there insurance utilized. How is it too late to have insurance on the credit card I initially rented the car with. Hiring a lawyer and definitely going to take this matter to court.

::I have rented from Hertz for over 20 years. In the past two months I have made over 50 phone calls and wasted over 40 hours attempting to get a billing error corrected. I have been hung up on by rude customer service reps and have been transferred 3-4 times per call. The final straw came when I refused to pay anymore until they credited me for the overcharges so they repossessed my rental. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, the Texas Attorney General's office and am now talking to a local news channel. They think if they continue to ignore me I will go away, but every minute I spend pursuing a resolution gives me that much more resolve. I will sue if necessary. Big corporations can not be allowed to get away with this type of behavior.
