::I visited Haruka in Rahway for lunch one day because I was curious that a Japanese restaurant was in town. It is a Korean restaurant, not Japanese. Their Soon Dubu, soft tofu soup, was tasty and spiced to order. However at most Korean restaurants, side dishes are included. Here they are not. I will return to try their Korean style sushi which is usually different than Japanese sushi.

::This place is awesome! One of those hidden little gems waiting for you to find on a side street. Look for the red lantern it guides you to delicious food, great service, and a friendly staff. Don't skip it if you find yourself in Rahway waiting for a train.

::Food was very good and fresh. Parking is a little hard to find but picked up and had to go around the block and pick up seconds since it was so tasty

::Haruka has been my go to sushi spot for almost a year now. First step in immediately takes me back to the small mom and pop sushi places in Japan. It's instant nostalgia. The sushi is always super fresh and the cooked food is always made with home style love. The rotating specials are a nice touch when you want to switch things up. My absolute favorite thing about Haruka besides the vibe and food is the top service. I seldom write reviews but Haruka is something special!

::I see lots of good reviews, so I went here last night with some friends, but sadly there wasn't enough care given to the food. I got a regular sushi meal. The tuna roll was good and most of the pieces of sushi were alright, but the squid piece was dried and hard on one end. When I started chewing, there was a crunch... No bueno. It was the hardened chunk of dried-out rice and squid on the end of the piece. Sushi is supposed to be made to order, but this piece was definitely sitting out for some time before they served it to me. There is no excuse for that. It was so chewy and fishy that I had to spit it into my napkin, which is something I've never had to do at any restaurant. Spicy lobster rolls were 50/50 mix of lobster and spicy mayo, like mush. The rest of the sushi was good, but you can't cut corners with sushi like that. It's rude and the chef should know better than to serve that to customers to save a buck.
