I am only giving four stars because I felt that there were two drawbacks. The first issue my husband and I faced was the limited parking and actual structure of the parking lot. It was easy to get in and park, but getting out was a challenge. Secondly, the hallway did smell a little strange, but it wasn't so offensive that we wanted to leave. Other than that, my husband and I were very pleased with our stay. The bathroom was spacious and the bedroom was just enough space for the both of us. The room was clean and we were provided with toiletries and individually wrapped cups for drinking or rinsing. There was a mini refrigerator and a microwave, and we were only a few miles away from shopping centers to purchase food for our stay. Additionally, the hotel was walking distance from the ocean and my husband and I could see the boats from the parking lot. Overall, I loved the hotel. It was cute and romantic and felt like a space you could make home for a weekend. We would definitely go back on our next trip to San Diego.

This hotel gets no stars at all... In fact, this hotel should not be on any promotional list, it's a dump with out of date everything. I couldn't even sleep, it being so uncomfortable and noisy. Oh, and it smells so bad; like some old housitoses, or unclean feet, sweaty armpits, and funky butt. I warn anyone even looking at this rat trap, don't put yourself through it. In addition; my credit card was compromised by someone at this hotel. Many charges were made to my card unauthorized. Don't trust this place, looks are deceiving.

We called the front desk to ask for an extra blanket since the blankets they provide are very thin. There isn't a comforter, just a tiny fleece blanket. The person said he would check and call back and then he didn't. We then went to the front desk to ask for the blanket, and he just said no. I mean, every hotel I've ever stayed in has extra blankets in the room. It's not acceptable to me that they either don't have extra blankets anywhere in the entire hotel, or just for some reason refused to give us an extra blanket. *edit* We did end up asking the maid for a blanket and got one the next day. Not cool tho. Loved SD and plan on going back but won't be staying here. They obviously are putting a lot of effort into remodeling the building/furniture etc but a fancy building doesn't mean much if there's no one in it.

Simple and comfortable, amazing location, great service and a very cool owner. Rooms were very good, always had a patking spot... everything was on point. Jay even helped me out with a parking ticket we got. When back in SD, I'll stay here.

There's no nice way to say this: the whole building smells strongly of cat urine, and the stink will get into your clothes and linger long after you leave. I feel sorry for the person that had to sit next to me and smell that on my clothes throughout my flight back home. The windows in my room had broken latches and wouldn't stay shut. The air conditioning unit was old, loud, and not particularly efficient at cooling the room down. There wasn't a closet, just a clothes rack above the table. The bed was comfortable, though, and had no evidence of bugs. The staff was professional and polite. I feel sorry for them having to endure that smell every day.
