Good food from a "hometown" bar. The place looks, both inside and out, like a normal neighborhood bar. A place to get decent food while hanging out with friends and watching a game or three. And while that's certainly true, there is also a full service dining room that allows the less sports-minded crowd to escape the TV. As with most places like this, there's not much to set it apart in the food department EXCEPT.... The French Onion Soup is, in my opinion, one of the top 3 in the city. If you like this soup, you need to try this place. They also have a great selection of desserts that look like they're at least made nearby, if not on premises. Not frozen and shipped in on a truck, but actual, real desserts. Again, like most hometown bars, this is not a place where the service will anticipate your every whim and coddle you like Daddy Warbucks. They take your order, keep your drinks filled, and bring your food, all in a friendly, homey, manner. I recommend going on a week night, grabbing a sandwich and bowl of French Onion, and saving room for dessert.

Seated quickly. Drinks arrived fast. All food served hot and portions were plentiful. Prime rib had way too much fat waste. Crab cakes were very good.

The food was OK. The pasta sauce was a little too sweet, but the meatballs were great. Service was extremely slow as they were short-staffed and had a large private fund raising event to take care of. Easy to get to location with large parking lot.

We had my son's baptism celebration at The Getaway. There were over 60 guests and Dawn and Valerie, our servers, were incredible. The food was great, atmosphere was welcoming. We are also regular diners and always enjoy our experience. It's always nice to get a friendly visit from management as well. Highly recommended.
