  Gene's Place is awesome - my go to spot for just sitting down and having a beer. Definitely the bar in Oakland with the most chill atmosphere in my opinion - I really like that I can always find a place to sit (it gets more crowded on Trivia Night, but I have never had an issue with this) and it's not so loud that I have trouble carrying a conversation which is a problem I have with some other bars. And the bartenders/bouncers are all pretty rad. Definitely recommend.

  Gene's is the ultimate dive bar. Tuesdays are game night, you can get w pitcher of Straubs for 4.50, and there's a dart board. Gene also does food specials for some holidays, and it was really great.
