  It was a sweltering July afternoon in Fort Worth. I was strolling by this baseball field admiring the game of ‘wiffle ball’ that was happening on the other end, reminiscing about days gone by. All of a sudden a child, no more than ten years old, yells out to me. “Keep walking old man”, he says. I would have kept walking, but something stirred inside of me. I yearned, once more, to feel the feeling of cracking a home run ding-dong a hundred yards or slinging a meaty fastball past a batter’s flailing bat. “Feelin lucky?”, I responded to the child. I walk over to the plate and grab the bat from another child, who stomps away. I tap the plate twice and raise the bat over my left shoulder. I stare down the ten-year-old pitcher to let him know my intentions: I intend to murder the next pitch you throw over the plate. He winds up and throws a dainty curveball that is going to fall at my waist two inches outside. I kick my leg and swat that piece of plastic five hundred feet to the next block over. After I’m done admiring I stroll around the bases, carrying my war stick with me on my shoulder. Once I reach a point closest to the child who originally taunted me, I sling the bat towards him in a show of unabated braggadocio. He knows what he did. Once finished, I stomp on home plate, thank the Lord for my strength and skill, and walk home. All in all, a pretty good park. Great for a game of wiffle ball with your pals.
