    First Citizens is the WORST bank I have ever worked with. I had an auto loan with them, I would send the payment via check every month via my traditional bank on the 13th, due on the 1st. They would receive the check and HOLD it until the 3rd of the month before cashing and then would send me late notices in the mail! I sold the vehicle on the 18th of the month, the payoff paperwork went to them on the 20th and they didn't process it until the 28th of the month. On the 29th I happened to call to ask for a copy of the payoff letter, they said I would have to wait 10 days for processing the loan closure and then wait for the letter to be mailed. If I wanted one sooner I could go to a branch. I went to the branch, they told me that wasn't possible and I had to wait. When I was working to sell the vehicle and receive a payoff balance, their customer service number hung up on me 3 times after I had been waiting on hold. When I finally got them on the phone, they said they couldn't email me what I needed, they had to FAX IT! Seriously, like I have a fax machine!!!

    I have been banking here since December 2001 (15+ years) and I almost always had a great experience with this bank and with the staff. Staff are very friendly and always willing to help. Also the ATM is really nice with its image deposit of checks that I can save time by not going inside. Favorite part of all is this bank doesn't charge any fees for its checking account and FREE checking is actually FREE checking unlike other banks like SunTrust, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America. Hope they don't make direct deposit a requirement in the future for free checking. I only have good things to say about this bank. I closed my account with Wells Fargo and SunTrust due to their requirements for direct deposit to avoid monthly fees. Hope to continue to do business with First Citizens Bank for at least the next 25 years! :) Thank you. Update (8/23/21)- Will give 6 stars if possible since everyone at this branch is so friendly and awesome. I have been banking here for exactly 20 years now going on 21 since I was 17 years old. GREAT BANK! :)

    Friendly folks. A range of investment services are offered there like IRAs, securities, foreign currencies, and financial advisors. They have a drive up. I did not see an ATM at this lobby. Read the fine print there are fees on the accounts. i.e. - You may have to have an account minimum or only so many transactions per month. They appear to be fairly national near as I can tell. They have branches in FL and NC. This branch is open 9am to noon on Saturday, which is convenient if you work Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

    WOW!!! The most horrible bank I have ever dealt with. It was a rainy day & I had my dog in my car & I was trying to get cash out a check I got from my mom. I don't bank at this bank, so don't know their rules. I pull up to the drive thu window. Give them my id & signed check. The lady approximately 40 years old with very curly hair took it, said hello & I will be right with you. I waited for about 15 min. She came back and said you would have to come inside. Ok. Definitely upset me cause I already waited all this time in the car, but I held it in. When I came in I saw how long the line was and had to wait again. While I was waiting I noticed how there was employees sitting in their offices trying not to even look at the line. Sad.The line was moving very slow. I saw a couple having an issue with one of the employees. Seemed like a simple fix, but as I will find out later it's always the customers fault not the banks. When it finally got to me the lady told me something Iike the check is not right and that they tried to call my mom & no answer, so she would have to call the bank to fix this. So 45 minutes at being at this bank I am treated as I am a thief trying to steel my moms small amount of money with the same last name. WOW!!! I called my mom as she was at the meeting. Got the hang of her and had her call them. After my mom called and spoke to this curly hair lady, she passed it down to the manager and I am steel waiting, no one is telling me why. So I asked why am I waiting for this lady who only later I was told was the manager. The lady tells me she would have to do it. I said there is 2 people in different offices and no one can help me. She said they don't handle this type of transactions. So here I am an hour later waiting manager who is with this customer who was counting change and little by little giving it to the manager. The manager young Spanish lady decided it's ok to answer back and instead of saying so sorry you had to wait when her customer said I liked this bank she said at least someone does and looked at me. When an hour later I finally got to her she cashed out the check and gave my id I left. So I was at the bank for an hour in a half. Funny I was actually considering switching to this bank, but after this god forbid NO. Here is another interesting thing. This Spanish manager actually called my mom and made her apologize for the way I was acting. Really!!! You should be ashamed of yourself. Horrible customer service, treating a 35 year old like a kid and making not only your customer, but a cancer survivor apologize for my behavior is just SAD.

    Be aware of this entire bank organization. They do not stand by what they say they are going to do! I switched my account to avoid fees because I don’t use the account often and they are saying I never made any changes even though I did it in the branch with them! They are unwilling to refund the fees THEY caused me. Someone else was also in the branch for the same reason I was!
