I have been to this place many times. It is usually very busy. They seem to have great customer service for their regulars, but barely tolerate you if you’re not a regular who goes every week. I’ve been back many times hoping the customer service experience would improve for me because they do good work that lasts, but customer service hasn’t improved over the course of the last year I have been trying to enjoy this salon. Thursday I made an appointment with Tim for 9am on Friday because I needed a manicure and pedicure for a wedding I have to go to on Saturday, and a public/tv event I am doing on Monday. I made sure to make an appointment ahead of time because I know they can get busy. I told Tim when I made the appointment that I knew I wanted to do a french powder manicure with the color Peaches & Cream and that I would like to match the powder for the manicure to the pedicure. Tim assured me this would not be a problem, saying ‘we can match it for you when you come in.’ However, when I came in for my appointment the next morning, they had 2 people in the salon and they kept telling me to do my pedicure first and to pick the color. I explained that I need help finding a color that matches and that I think maybe I should get the manicure first so we can match the manicure color to the pedicure color, as it might be a hard color to match without seeing it. I asked for help finding a color and told Tim that he said yesterday he can help with the color. His response was ‘normally we can help other people with colors but not for you today, we are busy.’ I told him I understood, but that’s why I asked yesterday. Then another woman kept encouraging me ‘do your pedicure first.’ I explained that matching the color was important to me. Especially since I was going to pay for $80-$100 in salon services this morning, which is not a weekly luxury I can indulge in. Long story short, Family Nail failed to see what was important to the customer, made me feel like they didn’t have time to discuss what I wanted even though I had an appointment, and turned a morning at the spa into a stressful experience. And unfortunately, this is not the first time I had an unsatisfactory experience here. So I finally gave up on hoping Family Nail would be ‘my spot’ and wound up going to Nail Love in Center Moriches.

I wanted my nails a certain way and whenever I pointed something out to the nail technician, she would give me this look, look at my nails, look at the person beside her and start talking. She did this a couple of times before I asked her to please not talk about me. She said that she wasn't although it was quite obvious when I said something and she would look at me then addressed the person next to her. I spoke with the manager his reply was "She was not talking about you she was talking about the nails, she has to talk to do her work." I stated that it's kind of obvious when I point something out and she looks at me with an annoyed look and then talks to the person next to her." The manger restated what he said and adds "You Americans you think people talk about you, you are welcome to go somewhere else....." It's a known fact that it is common for them to talk about customers while they are sitting there as told by others that understand their language when they don't realize a person knows what they are saying. So it's not just "You Americans." I was stuck on "You Americans." As I looked around the shop, all I saw was "You Americans" as customers. The way he said "You Americans" it was obvious that he is not fund of us Americans. It is "You Americans" that are spending their money in there. "You Americans" that keeps his business going by choosing to do business at his shop when there are so many other shops in the area. It is "You Americans" that were born natural citizens of the country that he wanted to relocate to and now want "You Americans" to do business at his shop so he can pay his bills, put food on his table funded by "You Americans." I don't approve of such language ever, and I have not stepped foot in his establishment ever since. Not one time did I address him by saying "You Asians" or "You Koreans" etc. I would not dare display such disrespect. The level of disrespect I felt not only towards myself but for every "You Americans" that has ever spent a dime in that place...... Well, " You Americans" can continue to do business there and spend your hard earn money but this "You Americans" will not.

I've been searching for a nail place that does a great job and I found this gem thru my sister who used to go here. Friendly staff! Nails came out perfect, exactly the way I asked. If you are looking for a place that files your nails evenly and does your nails better than you could have done them yourself, this is your place. I wouldn't consider it a spa like some places claim to be, just a nail salon that knows how to do a great powder dip manicure. I highly recommend.

I used to like this place until I had a bad experience, I had anc powder nails so I went to get them done again and this guy was taking them off and getting ready to do it then a lady walks in saying she had an appointment 20 minutes ago so he sits her down a few chairs away from me and starts to do her nails so I sit there for 20 minutes and he never comes back and I asked him why and he said she had an appointment and I was so mad so I just walked out. I was stunned with the customer service and definitely would not recommend this place. Especially once I saw the powder off of my nails I was even more mad because they told me that powder was healthy for my nails and they were completely damaged.
