I wish I read the previews review before I attempted to make an appt. It took two days for someone to finally return my message, when they finally did, the lady on the phone was very rude and abrupt. Once she heard that I had insurance, and due to insurance changes I was changing dentists, she "kindly" suggested that I should go back to my old dentist, ask for a discount and "buck up" even if it is more expensive! I am still appalled by her behavior!

My experience at this office today was humiliating and lacked any form of decorum and common courtesy that anyone deserves as a patient, mother, daughter and human being. I would recommend that you do not subject yourself or your family to the lack of customer service provided by the front office staff here. We arrived at the office and were greeted by Angela, the office manager who explained the forms and requested our credit card information to be kept on file. A little unusual but not a problem for me… A friendly assistant greeted us when it was time for our appointment and directed us to exam room. My mother accompanied us to this appointment as she often does with many appointments when she is visiting from out of state. As the dentist (friendly as well) was giving me instructions on how to accommodate my daughter (2 yrs.) on the chair, Angela the office assistant barges in the office and in an agitated tone asks my mother to leave the exam room because only the parent and child are allowed. Myself, the tech and Dentist were all shocked and quieted by the scene. No one said a word. My mother spoke up and said that she would like to stay because she has been caring for her during the day and comes to many appointments with us. Angela walks out of the room back to the reception and yells from the reception “If she’s going to stay in there then close the door”. I was paralyzed. The dentist noticing that my daughter is very attached to her grandmother, suggested that my grandmother sit on the chair with her. The appointment went well, the dentist was friendly and the dental assistant was extremely welcoming as well. My daughters appointment ended and it was my turn. My appointment was great as well. When I went to the front desk to checkout, Angela let me know that while “she didn’t want to make a scene”, but that for future reference in her office “ only the parent and child are allowed in the exam room”. I was again shocked, bear in mind that there 3 people in the waiting room and everyone could clearly hear her speaking to me. I explained to her that I understood but that perhaps this practice was not a good fit for our family. Angela replied “ that her practice was probably not a good fit for us and that it’s her office, she’s the boss and the owner and her rules go”. At this point I was appalled. This sort of language and behavior would not even be acceptable in the UPS store much less in a Doctor’s office, in an open space, with patients in the waiting room with 3 generations of a family present. It was a sad experience. If you are new to town and looking for a family practice I would definitely recommend that you stay away. The icing on the cake was when Angela asked for cash payment for the co-pay, although she requested my credit card information in advance of seeing the dentist. I was able to contact the insurance company and was told that we can switch providers in a jiffy. Angela was kind enough to allow and perhaps almost encouraged that my husband, who was scheduled to be see the Dentist in a few hours cancel his appointment without charging him the cancelation fee. I selected “Family Dentistry” as our dental provider in our insurance selection form for three reasons : 1) a family practice that welcomes the whole family from toddlers to adults 2) proximity 3) the name of the practice “Family Dentistry” I wish I could erase this experience from my memory. What a debacle!
