  Beautiful & away from the madding crowd- mid August and just over half the campsites were occupied on a Saturday night. Except for the Appalachian trail, most of the hiking here is very lightly utilized even on the weekends

  I've always had great experiences here. It's very close to my town of residence which makes it a convenient outlet to enjoy nature. Camping is affordable with great sites, and the beach is a nice place to relax and spend time with family. Great hiking, and an overall wonderful park in Putnam County.

  At the time I stayed in this campground they had an issue with the drinkable water and you had to go to the Park Office to refill your bottles. Before this campground I'd stayed in several NYS campsites, on my bike journey to NYC and I was quite disappointed with the restrooms and showers quality. No hot water but more importantly it was not clean at all. Good for a one night stay.
