::This PA almost cost me my life by refusing to listen to me. Not only did the urgent care I visited call UMC ahead to let them know to admit me asap and that I was en route, but they had already diagnosed me before I showed to UMC and told me to go straight there since it was literally across the street. I waited for 6 hours in the waiting room, coughing up blood all over the floor. So, I eventually got into the ER and got stuck with this unsympathetic meanie head of a PA. I insisted upon a CT Scan when he said that I only had pneumonia, he was EXTREMELY argumentative about it, outright refusing, wouldn't listen at ALL, and actually said "I could just push a button and give you a CT Scan, but I won't, because you have pneumonia." I crap you not, that was what he said verbatim. Fortunately, after I threw enough of a hissy fit for long enough, the actual Doctor came and realized my symptoms and X-rays were showing much worse than pneumonia and didn't quite add up, they ordered a CT Scan, and I was kind-of-properly diagnosed as having a Pulmonary Embolism. This PA still tried covering his rear, however, and diagnosed me as having BOTH PE and pneumonia, when in fact, it was ONLY a bi-pulmonary embolism diagnosed a few hours later (PE's in both lungs), with one clot being massive. I had been barely walking around with this for 2 stinkin' weeks, one more night and I wouldn't have woken up! I had one child at the time, now I have two. He almost cost my boys their mother. Had he at least been apologetic and not a jerk, I would reconsider my review, but he said "You won the grand prize, you have BOTH...", and because of his disregard, I was crying as much as I could with a PE and literally BEGGING for pain meds for 6 MORE HOURS after the initial dose and after I was admitted to the hospital. The rest of the staff? Crap, other than the doctors - Dr. Martin? She was just beyond AMAAAAZING. The nurses? Ridiculous to the point that they actually had to move me to the burn unit to get me the proper care. THEN - they "held my bed" upon discharge, causing me to be released during a shift change much later than anticipated (it was way late into the night), and causing me to not get pain meds, too, but that had nothing to do with this dude. Crap. I wouldn't recommend UMC or this PA to anyone unless they had absolutely no choice. I'll stick with caring people instead.
