  We were visiting Austin and staying downtown. The weather wasn't ideal so we visited this cool little underground spot. In a town with ample live music options, this was the favorite of our visit. Would highly recommend.

  The only dedicated jazz club I personally know of in Austin (although there's GOT to be others, right?) The Elephant Room is a long, dark hallway leading up to a small stage that somehow lost some of that jazz club quality when smoking indoors was banned, but probably gained less chance of attendees getting cancer, so fair cop.

  Cool place and great music. One of the bartenders, an old guy with a long mullet, was a complete jerk to my friend as he tried to decide on a drink, and it wasn't even that busy at the time, so that was a major negative to our experience. However, they do have table service from the waitresses, so it's possible to avoid him altogether, which keeps the place pretty good in my book.

  Really great place for date night! Low lighting, awesome live music and many tables to sit at. The atmosphere is cool, it has a dive bar feel. Drinks are good at reasonable prices. Only downfall is they have a cover charge on the weekends(the Saturday I went), which I totally understand on their end.

  My favorite bar in Austin for over 20 year! Love to come here. ... never a disappointment. ... Love THE atmosphere and great bands... great drinks... wonderful staff and worth the wait if there is a line outside to get in!
