::THE WORST car rental company i ever used. I am trying to give them a ZERO but google won't allow me. Here how my story goes: Rented a car from Newark Liberty International Airport. it was the only car available at that time and I found it has a transmission problem, so I asked if I can get a replacement in other Dollar rent a car branches. They said it can be done (seems good). On my way to Washington DC, I went to Washington Dulles International Airport for an exchange, the staff working there said to go elsewhere since no car was available. I asked him if he can check which branch I can visit, and literary he replied "I can't help, go check by yourself". So I took another trip to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for the other Dollar rent a car branch, and got a replacement (finally). The car I received was a Honda civic 15 model with metal keys (yes, it came without remote key). By the time I reached my destination, I found out the car doors cannot be locked or opened with its keys. I call Dollar customer service for help, they send a locksmith to unlock the car on my own expense which cost me about 110$. I called Dollar customer service again and asked for replacement, they replied I can go to Washington Dulles International Airport for an exchange. The replacement car I got was from Hurtz since Dollar was closed by the time of my arrival. The received car was an emergency car that has no specs what so ever. So the next day, I returned back to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for asking for refund for what I paid for the locksmith and see the possibility of getting a better car. All my trips goes to waste, nothing was refunded, dollar did not admitting given me a faulty car, very rude replies specially from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which by the way operated by a single person working for Thrifty. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. No wonder they call themselves Dollar, cause that's their only worth.

::Staff exceeded my expectations. The process did not take long nor did it take long to get the car. The DCA rental service does a wonderful job during the final check out of the vehicle. Returning the vehicle is even a quicker process than checking out. If you are seeking great service with people that are truly compassionate and dedicated to assisting you, then Dollar is the place to go. I was able to select my vehicle, which was clean and did not smell of smoke. The only thing they can work on, is cleaning the windows better, but that is minor to the overall wonderful experience.

::Despite all the negative reviews, we were surprised by the customer service that provided care that was above and beyond what we've experienced anywhere. Note that in the greater DC area, there are tolls everywhere, so I'd recommend getting the toll pass (though it may be costly). Additional drivers are not included, so know that ahead of time. Despite these aspects, which pretty much exist with all rental agencies, the woman who helped us make the reservation was very kind and helpful.

::Rented a van for the weekend for a road trip. Line was super long with only one person working... which doesn't make sense for an airport location. After using the kiosk to skirt the growing line and getting vehicle (only 1 van left so no choice but wasn't bad for what i needed). Get to the exit and it's backed up with two lanes open. Waited in line and attendant was very nice and apologetic. Also, at airport location, there's no parking for personal vehicles. So if someone is trying to drop you off, there's nowhere for them to park and wait and it was very frustrating to find entrance to dollar due to no signs other than rental car return. Anyway, while on the road, the maintenance light comes on in rental van! So that was stressful not knowing what was wrong. Then, I called to extend reservation a few hours and had to pay an additional $85!!! The rental for the entire weekend was $137! How is a few hours over half the cost of weekend?! Total ripoff for customers running late on returns. Won't be renting with them again after today. I'll stick with paying a few bucks more at other places.
