::I was a parishioner at St. Joan of Arc in Jackson Heights, New York. l came to know Fr. Cornelius (“Neil”) Otero as my parish priest. On approximately 6 occasions from approximately 1976 to 1977, Fr. Otero sexually abused me. At the time of the abuse, I was approximately 10 to 11 years old and in approximately 4th to 5th grade. From 1972 to 1980, Fr. Otero worked as a parish priest at St. Joan of Arc in Jackson Heights, New York. While at St. Joan of Arc, Fr. Otero sexually abused me. St. Joan of Arc and the Archdioceses knew about the abuse and covered it up. I was recently offered a settlement from the Archdioceses via the ICRP. The amount of the settlement was a form of abuse in its self. This is why we all have to fight to protect our children and pass the Child Victims Act in the state of New York. I would be wondering what they might be covering up now if I was a parishioner or parent sending my children to the school. Stop covering up the molestation of children, like you did in my case with Fr. Otero back in 1977. They even gave my molester a going away party, all the while knowing what he had done to me and other children. This abuse has affected me profoundly to this day and will for the rest of my life. Don't let your children suffer like I have! Protect your children! Call your local politicians and tell them to Pass the Child Victims Act in New York
