The only reason this place gets one star from me is so that I can write a review to warn people to stay away. I contracted with the very nice people at East Lawn Palms Mortuary to take care of cremating my mother's remains. I was unaware that I would have to deal with Desert Rose. The first problem arose when someone named Amanda called to check on the disposition of my mother's body, since the hospital had not yet notified them of her passing. She kept calling my mother "Mom" which was offensive to me, and I told her so. Karen then sent me a message from Desert Rose, explaining that my sister and I had to come in and fill out paperwork, which I thought I had done with Jeff. Karen was wrong - my sister was not required to be there. The building is run down and crummy, and I'm surprised that they have clients come there. Karen made numerous mistakes in the paperwork, which I corrected more than once, and tried to up-sell me on a bunch of junk I did not want. When I questioned what "nightgown" arrived from the hospital with my mother, she told me it was a hospital gown. I asked her what had happened to the caftan that was supposed to be with my mother (and which she was to be cremated in), Karen said she thought that it must be the "nightgown" that was on the paperwork.. I had to force her to go call someone and make certain. She wanted to hug me when I left, which I did not want, but I allowed so that I could get out of there. The next call was to inform me that there was some problem with their crematorium, and that there would be up to a week's delay for my mother's remains to be cremated. The final straw was when I went to pick up the death certificates, which Karen had a hard time finding because she "has trouble with the alphabet." She then handed me death certificates for someone other than my mother, annoying me and violating the privacy of that woman's family. I left there wondering if my mother's remains would be in the containers I provided. That is when I finally complained to Jeff, who reminded me of their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which turned out to be a joke. I spoke with Jeff more than once, and his supervisor, Patrick, and expressed my dissatisfaction with Desert Rose to both of them. When I did not hear back from anyone after several days, I called Jeff and was told that Amanda was to have called back with a resolution; she had not. They finally did refund about 10% of my payment - a far cry from 100%.

This place could be better without giving you the run around. I was told by Heather that they will be mailing out a card to honer all the people who had past away and that they will give you something for your Christmas tree. My dads friend had paid for cremation but with my dads money. I was told that we will not be invited unless we talk to his friend. I then called up our dad's friend and told him they will be mailing out a card and he will keep his eye out for it.so rhe days went on I called but I could not not any info from that place when it will be they said you have to get the card and then they can talk to you. So i called up our dads friend and he said he never got a card in the mail from them so I called that place back and spoke with Heather. She told me that they got some cards back and I had told her that this is not right. Then i was told it is over and she couldnt tell me a date when ot was.I even told her if someone had donated money for my dads cremation then will would that person who never meet my dad will be invited and not his children and she said yes. This is made me very heart broken for all the families that don't have money for anything then they are told a cards is being sent out on a certain date but we can't go unless we get the details from the person they send it to. When I went to pick up my dads ashes I noticed on the box that it was wrong and I had to correct it myself. This is not right they need to make sure that whatever the box says that it has the things in it after the cremation that it has it in it but I was told you can put a check on the box and here are extra stickers but the extra stickers had the correct info on it. Hopefully this will not happen to her loved one passes away. And hopefully they have enough respect for people that would like to honer their loved one and thst they will invite the children.
