  Walkabout is the most healthy and best way to explore Washington DC if you have the luxury of time and money for long hotel accommodation.

  I have been on free tours like this in some European cities and I prefer them as my experiences have shown me they usually end up being a better tour - this one was perfect! We went on the 5pm Big Five tour, and the guide (Sean) knew how to engage the group (there were about 20 people) and how to keep the story interesting and the tour energetic. The weather was also nice at the start, although we could see rain in the distance, but the guide really stepped it up and timed it so unbelievably perfectly that at our last stop he was standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and the raindrops began to fall. Maybe it was luck, but it was still cool. The stories and facts along the tour kept everyone on their toes and it was well worth it, plus the views around the Tidal Basin are some of the best in DC!
