  Darren has been a game-changer. With other teachers, I had a huge problem where I'd nitpick at technique and awkwardly struggle with my singing voice for hours each week, but then have no confidence and feel physically constrained anytime I tried to sing with other people. Darren is incredible at helping you think about the 'right' things as you sing. Darren's ability to give just the right mental images to totally unknot any physical/technical struggles of mine. He's good at understanding what makes you feel like you're stuck and from there giving you the tools and perspective you need. Before, I felt like I was trying to construct singing skills out of nothing. With Darren, the process feels more like discovering something that's already there, opening myself up mentally so that I can access and coordinate singing resources that already exist. Darren has obvious well-rounded talent and ear for music in general and will sometimes play guitar and piano along with you to practice particular aspects of songs fitted to you. He has also always been prompt and communicative logistically and I feel like he runs a super well-organized ship. I still have a ways to go, but just a few months with Darren has totally turned around years of discouragement into real progress. When I was overthinking about the technical things, I sounded flat and dead to myself even though I was doing my best with everything I knew on the technical side. Now I'm starting to trust my voice, can hear the difference in musicality as I sing, and feel like I'm well on my way to being able to interpret and express the music I like.

  Darren is a superb instructor; he really knows his craft. He is patient, very encouraging and has a knack for explaining techniques in a fun and easy to understand manner. Great Guy!

  I just finished the silver package that Darren offers. (The recording package) Darren was a professional and so informative. I learned a great deal!
