::I absolutely love that you can google review jury duty. I wish they had a yelp page. I just finished two days of a civil trial, my first jury duty service ever. I had a very nice time--nearly everyone involved, from the gentleman in the parking garage who was so kind as to direct me on a convenient place to park the motorcycle, to Justice Gina Slaughter who was classy and smart and patient and efficient, to everyone in the building who helped direct us around. I wish I could give our Bailiff Melissa more than five stars though--she took excellent care of us, and was a perfect professional in every way, also helpful and patient and funny and lovely. Jury duty is the best duty. Of note--one of the members of building security was beyond combative to one of my fellow jurors, which I found seriously unnecessary. Yes, she had pepper spray on her keychain--her bad. She'd also been coming in and out of the building all day with it and no one had said anything. It's fine to let her know that no, she needs to bring that back outside, and it's fine (I guess?) to refuse to inform our bailiff that she would be returning a little late for it, but the tone, volume, and glee involved kind of took the rest of our breath away. My new friend alerted Melissa to what happened when we got back, and she was apologetic and honestly distressed that she'd had such difficulty, and was so kind as to get my fellow juror the information on where to lodge a complaint, which I hope she made--come on, lady, you work with the public. They are confused and new here and there's zero call for the level of cruelty I saw. I can't bring myself to remove a star for that happening, because everyone else was so above-and-beyond in terms of kindness and courtesy. A truly wonderful experience.
