  The Cortlandt Tax Receiver office mailed its "courtesy" notice for 2nd half tax payment 5 days prior to the deadline, I received my notice 2 days prior to deadline. Short of driving a check to the office, there was no possible way to get the payment in before deadline - even their direct bank bill pay process takes 4 days. I know this now because I got a whopping 10% penalty for my payment arriving a day late. Hey Mary & Co. Don't Bother Wasting Tax Payer Money on Posting Courtesy Notices if you're gong to wait until the last possible minute to mail them! Seriously, DON'T EVEN BOTHER. When it's that late, IT'S NOT A COURTESY.
