Where do I begin? Living here really sucked, like a lot lot. Our hot water heater broke and wasn't replaced for a week! We had no access to the coffee maker or common areas for 4 months, 1/3 of our lease, with no compensation or rent discounts. It was very often not working in the morning even when we had access to it. The pool chairs were ALL broken and weren't fixed until mid August, by that time the summer was nearly over. The hot tub was out of commission on a regular basis. Those amenities were a big reason I decided to move here. The WORST thing they did and biggest indication they have no idea what they're doing is that we agreed to move out on April 14th, but they only billed us until the 4th, even though I have the email correspondence showing we agreed upon the 14th. Then a month later my former roommate tells me he's receiving calls from a collection agency! These people reported us to a collection agency without ever even billing us for the other 10 days! Without ever even calling or writing an email, then when I called to find out what was going on they didn't even apologize for what they'd done. They just acted like oh well, those are the breaks. People make mistakes but this was an epic one and they don't even have the decency to assist in fixing the problem or offer an apology. This could've affected my credit and my ability to get a new apartment or a new car or anything else. I am furious they didn't even pick up the phone or send an email before sending it to collections, and this was their screw up! Seriously, get an apartment at Guantanamo Bay before City Gate, they treat their tenants better.

Just moved - great experience thus far. Super friendly and helpful finding the right place. Moving in has gone great with the staff being helpful and friendly. The place was in good shape also when I moved in.

We have lived here for about a year now and it has been wonderful. The staff are always super nice and helpful. The location is great, despite all the construction right now. Walking distance from lots of nightlife. Our 1bed apt is a great size for the price, with lots of natural light and closet space for a couple. We were told it had a fireplace but when we moved in... it didn't. I was sad at first but actually appreciated having more wall space in the end. The parking here is a better deal than any of the nearby buildings we looked at. The outdoor pool is year round and a bit warmer than most, which makes a big difference if you like to swim for exercise but get cold easily. The hot tub is awesome in the winter. They have a "package concierge" system which is pretty awesome; electronic lockers to retrieve your packages 24/7 (rather than collecting from the front desk during business hrs) and you get an email the second a package arrives for you. Our unit was near the front office and the gym, which is awesome for convenience and the coffee machine in the lobby, but they play music in that area which you can hear in the hall, and whenever they forget to turn it off at night I can hear it through our front door. Kind of annoying but only if you live near the office, and you can call and ask someone to turn it off if it's really a problem. The front doors, at least in our hall, are not lined very well so they arent very soundproof and they really slam and rattle when anyone in the hall shuts their door. We planned to just put out own weather stripping in but never got around to it. That's really our only complaint! Overall it was a great place to live and we will be really sorry to leave when the time comes!

The management company (Holland Partner Group) is completely incompetent and treats tenants poorly. They tow tenant's guest's vehicles and the place is constantly under construction (with no compensation or discounts). Just pure profiteering here - steer clear!!!

I lived here for two years. When I went to move out, that apartment was professionally cleaned and they STILL took my deposit. My partner and I paid by money order for the extra $180 they charged within a week of moving out. 3 MONTHS later we get a collections notice saying we never paid city gate apartments?! Which we did! Also, an even more frustrating experience, they NEVER contacted us to tell us we supposively did not pay the extra amount, that we should have never owed. We called to try to get this resolved, but because they shut down our online account there was never a way to track this on our end. Needless to say we paid another $180, a total of $710 in "damages" that were not there all because City Gate did not have a new tenant to lease after us (which they told us). Thank you for scamming us for another half month of rent because there are better places to live downtown! One more thing to add, all these 5 star reviews are just people who work for the company.
