  Not sure why the other reviewer believes that his "sample size of one" experience - an AM mass in the chapel - is an appropriate stand-in for our entirety of our parish, but if he had perhaps reserved judgment until he had gotten to know us better, he would have seen the totality of this wonderfully vibrant, socially-active faith community. Transfiguration Church is a welcoming, modern Catholic community and one of several spiritual "hearts" of the beautiful village of Tarrytown. Our priests are wonderful homilists with a human touch. Liturgy is beautiful, featuring a talented organist, cantor, and choir. Music is supplemented by talented parishioners, who join in with guitar, flute, and bowed strings. Parishioners enjoy a variety of social activities, including fellowship hour after Family Mass, various social clubs, and yearly activities such as lectures and missions. We welcome newcomers. We also have an active St. Vincent DePaul Society, a parish twinning program in Central America, and various other ministries. Lay people are very involved here. If you're looking for a Catholic community in the spirit of Pope Francis, please join us!

  Weekday morning mass was held in a chapel the size of a broom closet with no place to kneel. Both the priest and the parishioners were sadly joyless, but God _is_ love and joy. The mass was a mumbled series of words without spirit.
