  Children’s Hospital is great for a lot of things . The Children’s emergency center doesn’t meet that high bar as the rest of the hospital . I brought my son in last night as he was violently vomiting non stop and very lethargic. He just started a new medication and we were concerned he might experiencing a dangerous side effect. After almost 2 hrs of waiting I inquired to how much longer it would be . The nurse told me not to worry as the longest wait is 1hr 10min , I told her that I had already exceeded that (1hr 45 )and she argued with me that I had not . She was “Well it’s all time stamped .” I know it was as they send you txt when you check in , which made this argument even more absurd . At that point after watching many more people leaving without their children being seen . We left to pursue treatment elsewhere.

  This is the worst ER I have ever been to. only go here if it’s immediately life threatening, otherwise you will sit for 4+ hours and watch everyone’s children who got there after you get seen before your own. The nurse who initially took vitals told us her oxygen levels were normal when they were actually significantly below normal. They also didn’t even look at our daughters chest to see her irregular breathing (the whole reason we brought her in). They also failed to even look in her ears or anything else were expressed concern for. The nurses treated us like we were incompetent. The nurses came out to call the people in front of us who had left, and it took them over 40 minutes to come back out, just to call 2 people who got here after us. Absolutely ridiculous to leave a baby who has a severe and painful cough sitting in discomfort for 4+ hours.

  The nurse didn’t even try to evaluate my daughter’s level of cooperativeness but brutally obtained a Covid test by pinning my daughter’s head into the gurney and scratched her face. Administered motrin and Tylenol by pushing down on the plunger so fast and forcefully the medicine just ran down her mouth. She didn’t even offer a tissue. Never communicated the plan of care. Someone would answer the call light and when asked for a nurse or plan of care it took 20-30min for someone to come. Even if the pulse ox wasn’t reading and just alarming staff would turn it off from the outside. Never came to check if we needed anything. Just sat there for 4 hours for them to discharge us. Horrible experience due to a single person who had zero compassion and my daughter is still traumatized. All I can hope for is karma to say hello to that insensitive nurse. She doesn’t belong taking care of little ones. Even though a formal complaint was made and I’m told she will be re-educated but I doubt that. Shame on children’s for hiring people like her. She’s a disgrace to the medical field.

  The waiting is super long everytyime I have brought my kids here for an ER we have had to wait hours to get called I understand they need to take their time with families I just feel like they should've build more emergency rooms. It's not the nurses fault they are doing the best they can. I feel like the hospital can open up more rooms for the ER they'll be less waiting time

  Dr Hanneman, Dr. Abbey and Grace our team were awesome at night. Very attentive and very helpful. The night crew gets 5 stars. Shift change to day shift however was brutal. 2x called for nurses and waited over 20 min plus for responsiveness. That is generous as well as Dr Abbey happened to stop by before shift ended to check on and we were at 25min and counting but she helped out. Right now at 25min and still waiting with 2 calls in.
