My husband was a resident twice at this facility: for months at a time. While there are members of the staff who actually care, the overall assessment is that inadequate staffing, bad attitude and lack of oversight leads to sub standard care for vulnerable patients. If it were not for private aides, who I paid out of pocket to assist him, my husband would sit in urine or stool for an 8 hour shift. Response to ringing the "call" bell is abysmal. Inadequate weekend and night coverage places an unreasonable burden on those members of staff who are trying to deliver good care. And when this is addressed with administration the stock answer is that the facility meets medicare guidelines for staffing. What is doesn't account for is whether the staff that is present are on their cell phones or answering patient call bells. All I can say is that the 5 star US News & World Report ratings makes me very sad for patients who are in facilities where the rating is even lower. It is a joke: that report has no credibility.

CareOne at Cresskill is beyond compare. Under the unrelenting scrutiny, compassion and care demonstrated by Cheryl Dorn who heads this facility and Lisa Ross who leads nursing and related medical services, one is never saddled with concerns regarding the loved one under their care. My father was reduced to a proverbial football, being tossed from one facility to another prior to his residency here. This was due to the fact, that no one was able to tend to his ever-changing medical and psycho-social needs. Now, this may sound rather “cornball” - he now radiates with joy. In a related vein, I recently received rehab care here after a full knee replacement. I did not want to leave. My PT/OT, nursing and 3 delicious meals each day was downright amazing! Thank you

So far I have observed that the nurses do not regularly check up on the patients, if you ring a bell for help it takes way too long for someone to come to the room, some of the staff are constantly on their phone instead of caring for the patients, nothing is explained to the family or patient from anyone about anything and I do not feel comfortable having my family member stay here. She was screaming in agonizing pain for 5 hours and nothing was done for her while my family and I were asking the nurses and aides for help. If we weren't there to comfort her she would have been ALONE all day screaming in pain. The facility itself is nice and some of the staff are great, but they can't be there as the place is very understaffed. I will update as long as we have to keep our family member here.

Wow- Where to begin? To be brief for those who are just skimming; if you have an option other than this place, take it. Let’s see I learned when I arrived to see a family member that the first two nights of their stay here there was a jack hammer running in the hall outside the room, that was hard to sleep through. Then the pictures I added; rust, broken and damaged facilities, terrible parking, dirty everything. It’s sad because the people who work here are actually really nice. It’s just so poorly managed by the owners, I guess some people are comfortable with putting in the bare minimum. It reminds me of a place a ghost busters episode would take place. Like it was abandoned 30 years ago for being rundown, and now they are trying to revamp it but they keep running into issues and the ghost busters have to solve it... no better yet, Scully and Moulder have to solve it. Oh, and the word “kill” is in the name... great move guys. Bring people who are nearing the end of their lives to a place named ...”kill”. I see you guys have responded to other comments no need to publicly respond to me. I won’t be back.

This place is honestly depressing. From the moment you walk in, you will experience very bad smell ... the entire place is not clean and the carpet is filthy. The staff are trying to cope with the demands but they are short of staff and it may take up to 30 min to respond to a simple request. My father got better the moment you exited this facility!
